Why we train in the dark (and why it works)

Low light and loud colour aren’t just for photos. Members tell us they stop watching themselves and start watching the work.

The short version

Fewer mirrors, more focus

Most gyms are bright and lined with mirrors. Ours isn’t. When the lights are low, members stop checking how they look and start paying attention to how the movement feels. Coaches still have a clear view of every rep, and we turn the floor lights up for technique sessions.

Colour means something

In HYPERDRIVE the lights do a job. Pink means work, cyan means rest, and orange means the last round. It sounds gimmicky until you’re on your fourth interval and don’t have to look at a clock.

Music on the beat

Every conditioning session has a playlist written to the same timer as the workout, so the drop lands right as the work interval starts. Members say it makes 45 minutes feel like 20. We’ll take that.

It’s not for everyone (and that’s fine)

REBOOT runs with warmer, softer light, and the 12:15pm sessions are lit for people coming in from bright offices. If low light bothers you, tell us and we’ll find you a spot near the door.
